THE TOR BAY & DART EXPRESS

Locomotive Services offer the opportunity the travel behind a Class 45 over its traditional stamping ground between Derby and Paignton. To add something a little different the train will run through to Kingswear (for Dartmouth) over the Dartmouth Steam Railway (DSR) metals.

The train will start from Derby, picking up at Burton on Trent, Tamworth High Level and Birmingham New Street. From here we take the direct route via Standish Jn, Westerleigh Jn & Filton Jn to Bristol Temple Meads. It is then onwards via the Somerset Levels to Taunton. West from Taunton we ascend Whiteball before dropping down to Exeter St Davids, then the famous sea wall between Dawlish and Teignmouth with its views over Tor Bay before turning left at the Aller Divergence and heading to Paignton. We will set down at Torquay & Paignton for those customers wishing to visit these towns before crossing onto the DSR before arriving in Kingswear.

On arrival at Kingswear there will be the opportunity to cross over to Dartmouth (ferry included in the price) and after a break of around 3 hours we will head for home. Our return will retrace our outward route, picking up at Paignton & Torquay for those who have elected to spend the day here.
