Travel in First Class comfort in our InterCity carriages to the East Anglian seaside town of Great Yarmouth, hauled by one of our heritage Class 40 locomotives. A three-hour break in the Norfolk town will allow ample time to visit one of the beautiful beaches, or to enjoy a pub lunch in one of the many bars and restaurants.
Our journey takes us from Manchester to Guide Bridge and Romiley before we travel through Edale and the delightful Hope Valley, to welcome passengers at Sheffield and Retford. Next, we journey through rural Lincolnshire, passing Sleaford and Spalding, before taking the ‘Breckland Line’ from Ely to the outskirts of Norwich. We take the little used ‘Wensum Curve’ to avoid the terminus station. Before arrival in to Great Yarmouth, we will pass through delightful Berney Arms, home of one of the UK’s most remote and least used railway stations. It is only accessible by train, on foot or by boat!
Like many east coast seaside towns, Great Yarmouth attracts millions of visitors each year to its sandy beaches, with their buckets and spades at the ready. The ‘Golden Mile’ is renowned for its wide range of amusement arcades and attractions, but for a more relaxing afternoon enjoy a stroll along the Grade II listed Britannia Pier, famous for its pier end theatre. Our return journey will see our special train head to Norwich via Acle, before the train reverses for the Class 40 locomotive to lead the way back to Manchester.
