Class 45 locomotives were part of the everyday scene from the early 1980s over the TransPennine routes between Liverpool Lime Street and York, Scarborough and Newcastle. This train is an attempt to recreate those days although the TrannsPennine Route Upgrade does preclude the operation via Dewsbury & Leeds on this date. Class 45 (D67/45118) is scheduled for this journey.

Our train will leave Crewe hauled by one of Locomotive Services Group Class 47s and runs via Weaver Jn & Runcorn to Liverpool Lime Street. From Liverpool lime Street the Class 45 will work the train throughout to Newcastle running via Earlestown, Chat Moss, Manchester Victoria, Stalybridge & Huddersfield. From Thornhill LNW Jn we will divert from the core TransPennine Route via Wakefield Kirkgate, Castleford & Church Fenton to York thence onward via the East Coast Main Line via Northallerton, Darlington & Durham arriving in Newcastle for a break of around 3 hours.
